Call for entries Pentaxians Yearbook 2020

Fellow Pentaxians,
Welcome to the call for entries for the 2020 Pentaxians Yearbook. This yearbook will be a special one, because we celebrate - PENTAX 101 Years of History. Just joking - we saw tons of astonishing work during the last months, so please contribute your incredible photographs and the book will be awesome.

But first things first. For those who are new to the project. For three years we have produced an annual book which contains the incredible work of the PENTAXIANS facebook group. It is not a contest and all of the submitted artwork will be published. The printed version of the book will be limited to 280 images. The download version will contain all images. The 2017, 2018, 2019 yearbooks can be downloaded here.

About the #yearbook2020 tag: The mentioned tag is a marker for us to find great images from you great guys again and of course it something like a Pentaxians medal of honor for the best of the best ;-) Just kidding - sure it should also be an encouragement for you to be part of the project, but it is not the entry ticket, because we cannot keep track of the enormous amount of outstanding photography posted in this group....

Yours, Béla & Stephen

Four basic rules

1. As a contributor you must be a member of the Pentaxians Facebook Group.

2. The image you contribute MUST be shot with a Pentax or Ricoh camera body. Don't matter if digital or analogue or what kind of lens. A picture shot for example with a Sony A7 with a Pentax lens is NOT eligible for the book.

3. The image MUST be shot in 2020.

4. You must be the photographer and have the copyright holders permission (if not yourself) for publication and accept all legal responsibility for model releases etc. We will take it on trust that you have all these, but would refer any legal issues back to you if it turned out you did not.

Contribution

Please read the following instructions carefully. This helps us to keep the workload on an acceptable level in the creation process. Contribution period will end January 31st 2021. Thank you in advance.

Step 1 - image selection

The first principle of the Pentaxians yearbook is that there is no jury*. So select the ONE image (only one image per user) you think it is the BEST shot you have taken in 2020. So make a good decision!

ATTENTION: If your selected Image is part of a closed Series, and you would like to publish that series, please let us know. Just PM Stephen Obermeier on facebook, if you like to do so. We cannot guarantee that the series will make it to the book - it is our freedom of choice.

If you decide to swap your image for another one, please just redo the whole process and send us an email that you did so. We will then delete the initial entry. Please try to get it right first time, every change is extra work for us and we are only volunteers!

Step 2 - save image

- If possible, save your image using embedded adobe-rgb profile. Youtube can probably help you if you don’t know how.
- Image must contain NO watermarks
- Image must must have a minimum size of 4000 pixels better 5000 pixels on the long edge (If you have a Pentax Q or *ist D(s), please do not upscale the image).
- Keep filesize below 15 megabytes

Step 3 - image filename

Please rename the image in this pattern:
lastname_firstname_imagenumber.jpg
The imagenumber can be any random number, just for us to avoid duplicates.

Step 4 - send image

Please send your image as an attachment to yb2020@ideas-tm.de **. Please include your firstname and lastname within the email.

Step 5 - register your contribution - THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT!

This is the MOST important part besides the image itself. Please visit the following Link to a google form and register your contribution. Important: Please use the same email-address for the form you sent the image from. This allows us to match the images with the names, because email-addresses are unique.

Register your contribution here

The data gathered here is just basic data we need to create the yearbook. The informations will only shared between Béla Nagy and Stephen Obermeier, the volunteers putting together the book.

Step 6 - be patient and wait for the result

Thank you very much for your contribution.

* we feel free to reject if images show violence (european standards), obvious copyright / legal infringements, pornography (european standards).
